We took the Hill and planted our Flags. It was Glorious
Jul Thompson
I arranged two buses and 105 people to attend the Rally in DC on 6Jan2021. I knew many others would want to come from Western New York, and not just hope against hope we could put a stop to the end of free and fair elections in the “free world”, but support our President, who has accomplished so much, amid so much wasteful, reckless and senseless opposition.
I am a firm believer that 99.999% of our fellow
citizens we joined in DC did not
participate in any acts of violence or vandalism, nor did we witness any. If you want to count the cheap metal barriers that were used to enable people to get over the four foot fence wall about 20-30
feet from, and in front of the western steps of the US Capitol building, then
so be it. For all any of us knew, the steps may be accessible on any other
given day. I was surprised to see a lamp
stand on its side and its bulb broken amid the surge of people trying to get up
the Capitol steps, but I understand it was caused by a flash bang thrown by one
of the Capitol Police.
I said in my initial retelling to Bob McCarthy
of the Buffalo News that I was pepper sprayed, but it could easily have been a
smoke bomb. I wish he’d done a better job with the article, but we don’t call
it the Buffalo Snooze for nothing. His misquotes weren’t terrible compared to Tony
Nelson’s awful article for Spectrum News. There
oughtta be a law against putting quotes around things that were never said. It
used to be called libel. Regardless, I
had a bit of an extended choking reaction, so I opted to stay back, stand atop
the wall at times, help people back and forth across the wall, and cheer from a
distance inside the wall.
The 2nd paragraph of the Declaration of
Independence states “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive
of these ends [these ends being the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness], it
is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new
Government..”
I’ve often wondered what that would look like
today.
For over 20 years my husband Rus and I have actively engaged in the political
process, and along with friends and patriots that have joined us, we’ve been
ignored or betrayed by virtually every politician and party we’ve ever
supported. With few small exceptions, we’re not being represented, because our
“representatives” have an agenda or elevate their self-interests above all
else.
I was happy to participate in making our voices heard that day, at least in my lifetime, for the first time in over 20 years. Others were elated, some described it as exhilarating. Tears of joy were shed for the opportunity to participate in this historic event.
Our group became completely separated at the beginning, and it was only after we boarded the buses for our return trip did I realize it wasn’t just me and a friend that climbed over the wall. At least 18 of us joined in the surge to take over the Capitol steps. No one from our group that I know of actually made it up the steps, but collectively We Took the Hill. We planted our flags. It was a glorious thing to behold. These are older people, gentle, soft-spoken, kind-hearted people, many Christians who determined to say that day, loudly and very clearly, “We’re as mad as hell, and we’re not gonna to take this anymore!” (Watch the clip)
Hundreds of thousands if not a million and a half people protesting the
election sham (Stop it. 50 million people agree) went home that day completely
oblivious to any skirmishes or mayhem occurring on the east side of the
Capitol. Even people far enough away from the entrance where it was occurring
on the east side have said they were unaware, and I believe the vast majority
did not know anyone had even entered the building. Something like a mini EMP
jammed our phones, which certainly left many of us unaware.
But the mainstream media is telling us a
different story.
Overnight we all became super villains. Politicians, celebrities and the media,
who just eight months ago were encouraging burnings, lootings, statue
topplings, mass destruction, assaults and killings of innocent people now have
their hair on fire over a skirmish that lasted about an hour from what I can tell. The selective outrage has been deafening.
We now know police allowed people inside the
Capitol building, and that Antifa and BLM activists and organizations
pre-planned violence to cast aspersions on our purpose there. There is plenty of video showing Trump supporters intervening to try and stop the violence by these
agitators posing as Patriots. To me it is easy to recognize them, but some
Trump supporters clearly did not, and were caught up in the frenzy. Sadly Officer Brian Sicknick was hit by a
fire extinguisher and succumbed to his injuries,* complicated by other
conditions, the following day. Air Force
veteran Ashli Babbit was also an unfortunate victim of overzealous
participants, when she was killed by a Capitol Police Officer. The other deaths the media is using to
inflate the numbers died of natural causes or were self-inflicted. At least that's what I know from "official" reports.
President Trump encouraged people to go to the
Capitol, cheer on our legislators to do the right thing and do it
peacefully. But the media has clipped
that part of his speech, giving rise to the nonsense that he encouraged people
to riot. People helplessly tethered to the msm and lacking critical thinking
skills have swallowed the American Pravda’s propaganda that we are all violent,
treasonous, traitorous insurrectionists.
Numerous threats of violence and vile attacks
have been levied against us, though my husband didn’t even go on the trip. It’s all very ironic of course, because we
were there, again, to stop the lawlessness of fraud and deception being
perpetrated by our legislators.
There is more, so much more, from the stunning complicity by so many who believe election fraud justifies the means to an end, the unwillingness of courts to hear the evidence, to mass media censorship, from the madcap march to unsustainable socialism to overinflated covid hysteria, the destruction of businesses and jobs with completely unnecessary economy-destroying lockdowns, all in an effort to inflict as much damage as possible upon conservatives and law-abiding citizens.
Why? We don’t demand the cringing, unwilling surrender of people with whom we disagree. What happened to peacefully coexisting?
Now we’re expected to suffer the absurd self-righteous indignation and demands of the Left to persecute us, make us lose our jobs, threaten to run our businesses into the ground and commit acts of violence against us, confine us to internment camps, shutdown all our voices, because what, we disagree? People would have to be a special kind of dumb to believe any more than about 100 people were involved in the skirmish that day. And what again is the offense? Besides the unfortunate deaths, I see a couple of windows got broken and someone put their feet on Nancy Pelosi's desk. Wow. Again, the selective outrage is deafening. If you too have hyper-inflated this momentous day in your mind, your media masters, The American Pravda thank you for your subservience.
I am sure that no occasion made me happier to be an American citizen than when, as a teenager, I read Robert G Kaiser's RUSSIA: The People and the Power. Learning of the mass deception that occurred on a national scale in 1970s Russia, that nothing made it into the news until it was properly distorted and passed muster with The Russian Pravda, I couldn't help feeling eternally grateful I was not born into that kind of corporate treachery and betrayal of the public trust.
Though it has been building over years, it seems as though that all changed in one day. This cannot stand. We’re Americans. Citizens of the world. Just like Russian, Chinese, African and Venezuelan citizens and all other citizens of the world, we
deserve to be heard.
With that, I encourage you to share your story too.
*15Feb21: This was based on initial reports and the information I had when the article was first published. Emerging information is telling a different story. I watched a video in which an officer that looked like Brian Sicknick was hit in the head with a fire extinguisher, but some news sources are now saying this was not the cause of his death.
My apologies, I thought of fixing that first paragraph but decided instead to torment you with a triple negative ..
